It all starts with the imagination…
Imagine a space full of life that allows the flow of harmony not just to be witnessed through your eyes but also to be felt deeply in your heart. A space with 5 children of different ages, who are each active participants in their learning, whether they are working independently or in collaboration with one another.
Imagine an orderly and tidy space prepared only for children ages 2.5-6 with a place for everything, so they learn to organize their thoughts and develop the ability to concentrate by creating a sense of order in their surroundings.
Imagine a space where learning is self-directed, not forced, and discipline means to educate, not to control.
Imagine a space in which a child is arranging flowers and proudly putting her work on display, another one greatly immersed herself in the color tablets while a group of children helping each other on the floor building words through the large moveable alphabet.
Imagine a children's space, young children take part in the process of setting up a beautiful meal table together, and can experience a community where they are individuals who can also be valuable members when part of a team.
Now your imagination becomes a reality in Eastbridge Montessori!
“Eastbridge Montessori has been the natural outgrowth of both my inquiry directed to the discovery of the role of each person in the web of life as well as my overwhelming feelings towards the importance of acting in harmony with my own values in service of children. Becoming a Montessori guide followed by becoming a mother, strengthened my urge to help new human beings.
My wonder has taken me to the following questions: In what ways could I allow the children in my care to be who they are instead of who I expected them to be? In what ways could I transform myself to be a better aid children in their learning processes? How would I distinguish my desires from the children’s real needs and tendencies?
Perhaps, realizing what makes oneself unique, paves the way for appreciating and cherishing what makes others special. This is a perspective that I would like to keep while guiding the children. I endeavour to step into the learning environment with a clear mind and bare eyes, being aware that I am a learner who is just being imperfectly mindful. I intend to celebrate the imperfections that make each of us delightfully human. I can never know what I really do not know, and this makes me vulnerable, open to the countless possibilities, excited, and wonderfully alive. Perhaps, it is the greatest joy of all!”
